This morning, San Anton School was privileged to participate in the Dinja Waħda Awards Ceremony, hosted by Birdlife Malta, celebrating the accomplishments of schools engaged in the 2022/2023 programme.

Today marked an exciting milestone in the journey of our school's growth and development as we welcomed a fresh wave of talent into our family. An Induction Day for all new members of staff, representing various sectors, was organised by our Head of HR, Ms. Natalie Muscat, as a pivotal component of our school's comprehensive onboarding programme.

We are thrilled to announce the winner of our 35th Anniversary Logo Competition, open to both Junior and Senior Sector students. After careful consideration and evaluation by our judging panel, we are proud to congratulate 11-year-old Francesca Bianchi, a Senior Sector Student who will be entering Grade 9 in the upcoming scholastic year.

Twenty one of our young athletes coached by San Anton Athletics Coach, Mr.Vladimir Dushenkov, participated in the National Championship Malta Athletics Meeting, competing against other young athletes at the Marsa Track, over the weekend, winning 17 medals!

In the pursuit of academic excellence, it is crucial to recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of students who demonstrate exceptional aptitude and interest in specific subjects. Grade 11 (Form 4) students Daniel Buttigieg, Luisa Borg, and Laura Camilleri Cassano have recently showcased their remarkable talents in Mathematics.

This morning, a ceremony took place at St. Michael School Santa Venera, where Grade 11 students Alexia Sant and Kate Oswald, participants in the Prince's Trust programme, were honored with the prestigious Sustainability Award 2023 by Prince's Trust Achieve International Malta.

The Maltese Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta recently extended an invitation to San Anton School to participate in its annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. And once again, the school eagerly accepted the invitation.

Over the weekend, the much-anticipated Grade 10 live-in took place. Students had lots of fun with a variety of activities that were planned out by our Youth Worker and supervised by the school's educators. One of the highlights of the live-in was the private use of the Baystreet Arcade. Students got to enjoy virtual reality, laser tag, and various games with their friends. Additionally, they went on a night hike, followed by a traditional meal in Mgarr, and enjoyed toasted marshmallows by a bonfire at school.

On Friday 28th April 2023, excitement was palpable in the Senior Sector Science Wing, as the school hosted the Grade 9 Science Fair, marking its return after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The event showcased 28 investigative projects on the topic of Climate Change, with each student presenting their research question, methods, and findings to their parents and other students.

On the 27th of April 2023, our Grade 7 students and their educators embarked on a much-awaited adventure to the beautiful island of Gozo for their Gozo Live-In experience. The trip was a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn beyond the classroom and create unforgettable memories.

During this Easter break, a group of Grade 11 Science students, accompanied by their educators, embarked on an enriching Science journey to Germany and Belgium. This excursion was meticulously organized with the aim of immersing the students in various scientific concepts aligned with their curriculum, while also delving into the rich cultural and historical tapestries of these European nations.

As educators, we understand the importance of continuous learning and skill development. That's why Professional Development Days are so crucial for teachers, and San Anton Educators returned to school today after the Easter break to attend one such event. The day was filled with engaging and interactive training workshops, delivered by both in-house and external education practitioners.

Yesterday marked our annual Early Years Sports Day, hosted at our state of the art San Anton Sports Complex. It was a delightful occasion brimming with joy and excitement for all participants. Observing the boundless enthusiasm of both children and parents throughout the activities was truly heartening. These moments are invaluable in instilling a passion for physical activity and sports among our young learners.

Our Grade 11 Live-in has come to an end, marking the end of an enriching experience for all involved.The event commenced with an inspiring talk in the library by Ms. Ramona Vassallo, who shared her personal journey of overcoming homelessness. Her narrative served to sensitise students to the pressing issue within our society. Engaged and curious, the students posed thought-provoking questions, undoubtedly reshaping their perspectives on this prevalent problem.

Today marked an unforgettable milestone as our Grade 12 (Form 5)students bid adieu to their school journey. It was a day brimming with laughter, camaraderie, and heartfelt farewells.The day kicked off with a delightful start as students gathered for a special activity in the charming streets of Rabat. Energized by the aroma of pastizzi at Serkin, they embarked on a leisurely stroll, soaking in the ambiance of the historic surroundings.

Our Senior Sector Sports Days unfolded over the past two days. The activities encompassed the customary blend of track and field events, ball games, and entertaining races. From sprints to endurance challenges, from shot put to high jumps, the variety of events was abundant.

Well done to our Grade 5 Sea Creatures! Their amazing performances during this morning’s demos of 'Sharks' and 'Coral Reef', two original productions masterfully crafted by our talented Ms. Chiara, in alignment with our Community Engagement Programme theme, SEA Our Future, left us spellbound.

Today we warmly welcomed our San Anton parent community to our annual Open Day, providing them with firsthand experience to witness and applaud the remarkable creative endeavors of our students. It served as a true testament to their ongoing and inspiring learning journey.

Aligned with this year's theme for our Community Engagement Programme, our Grade 4 and 5 students enthusiastically participated in a Human Library event featuring insights from five experts in diverse fields related to the sea. This immersive experience was a key component of our project-based learning approach, spearheaded by the Pedagogical and Curriculum Consultant, Mr. Heathcliff Schembri.

This morning, we celebrated our annual Pets Day, a cherished tradition that stands out as one of the most anticipated events on the Early Years and Junior Sector School Calendar. The celebration coincides with the feast of St. Anthony the Abbot, the patron saint of animals.

Today, our Administrative team returned to school after the Christmas break for a morning dedicated to professional development and skill enhancement. To foster a culture of holistic wellbeing, the team engaged in an engaging workshop centered on stress management techniques and nurturing mental wellbeing.

Last Thursday, the Senior Sector Science Wing was a hive of activity,as our school proudly hosted the Grade 9 Science Fair. As a part of this year's Community Social Engagement Programme, the event served as a vibrant display, showcasing 28 investigative projects all centered around the theme "SEA Our Future." Each participating student passionately presented their research question, methods, and discoveries to an eager audience comprising parents and fellow students.

And our Grade 8 live-in, the first for this scholastic year has come to an end!Lots of fun was had with outdoor adventure games, a night hike, followed by a traditional meal in Mgarr, hot chocolate and marshmallows at school, night football, zombie tag and much more.

This morning marked a truly special occasion as we concluded our SEA Our Future Campaign with an emotional presentation. Throughout this scholastic year, students from all sectors, guided by their dedicated educators, engaged in immersive learning about ocean literacy. This initiative was part of the San Anton School Community Social Engagement Programme, focusing on raising awareness about the sea and addressing the critical issue of marine pollution and other sea-related matters.

We are proud to announce that San Anton School has been awarded the status of European Blue School for our community engagement project, SEA Our Future, for the 2023/24 scholastic year. This certification is granted by the EU4Ocean Coalition, funded by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

This morning marked a truly special occasion as we concluded our Children for Children Campaign with a heartfelt presentation. The San Anton School community came together and raised an impressive sum of €7,200 through various engaging activities as part of this year's San Anton School Community Social Engagement Programme. We had the pleasure of presenting Ms. Angele Cuschieri from Puttinu with a cheque for this remarkable amount.

Following last December's Expression of Interest to our Junior Sector, 13 groups of budding entrepreneurs and talented crafters rose to the occasion and made crafts in their free time, in order to raise money for Puttinu Cares ahead of next week's Crafts for Puttinu, as part of this year`s Children for Children campaign.
