The Maltese Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta recently extended an invitation to San Anton School to participate in its annual pilgrimage to Lourdes. And once again, the school eagerly accepted the invitation.
This year, a group of seven Grade 11 students had the privilege of joining the Cadet Team, which was part of a contingent of 170 members of the Order of Malta and volunteers. Their primary task was to transport and care for over 40 patients, including children, as well as around 30 accompanying pilgrims, on their journey to the shrine of Our Lady in Lourdes.
Throughout the pilgrimage, the volunteers were organised into teams that performed different tasks. Our students had the honor of joining the Cadet team, which was responsible for transporting the sick adults and children around the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. This provided the students with a unique opportunity to learn about the Order of Malta and its commitment to helping others.
The Cadet team was expertly coordinated by our Head of Early Years, Ms. Nicky Azzopardi, who is also a volunteer of the Order. She accompanied our students, along with Teacher of Religion, Mr. John Zammit. Together, they ensured that the students had a meaningful and unforgettable experience.
We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to our students and staff on their noble contribution to this pilgrimage.
Their participation in this meaningful event is a testament to the school's values of compassion, service, and community. We look forward to continuing to participate in such events in the future.
