A group of San Anton School Grade 10 (Form 3) students together with a group of students from San Andrea School recently went on a skiing trip to Pila in Aosta Valley - northwest Italy, accompanied by their P.E teacher Ms. Maria Gloria Camilleri. This was the first time that such a trip was jointly organised by the two neighbouring schools.
The group was accommodated at the unique hotel Etoile du Nord, modelled on one of the Aosta Valley’s many castles. Throughout the week, students were encouraged, taught and continuously assessed on their skiing skills and also participated in various après-ski activities. At the end of the week they were presented with an Interski award along with a badge and certificate to validate their achievement.
This week’s experience in the Alps provided students with one of the highlights of their school years, helped them to develop their confidence and social skills, whilst broadening their horizons and experiences.
The benefits of learning a new skill in such a unique environment in the company of their friends were immeasurable – all whilst enjoying the culture, language and geography of this historic Roman valley.
