SAN ANTON SCHOOL STUDENT INVITED TO U.N. HEADQUARTERS IN NEW YORK

Andrew Bartolo a Grade 12 student has won an art competition organised by the U.N environment Programme. He has been invited to join the programme in New York City on the 23rd October, 2008 for the launch of Paint for the Planet, a children`s art exhibit and auction to raise money for UNICEF`s emergency relief for children affected by climate-related disasters.

Andrew, is one of just five young artists worldwide, who have been selected to go to New York to share their message with decision makers, corporate leaders, and the media.

They will officially open the exhibit at UN Headquarters in New York . This is the first time that the original artwork chosen from a collection of nearly 200,000 paintings has ever been displayed.

On the 25th October, a selection of paintings will be auctioned at the Harvard Club of New York City to raise emergency funds for children affected by climate-related disasters. The proceeds will be donated to UNICEF, the United Nations Children`s Fund.

After New York, the exhibit will travel to various climate-related events and meetings around the word, culminating in Copenhagen.

Well Done Andrew
