Meet Ms. Isabelle Depasquale

Home Economics Teacher in Senior Sector

You have previously taught in the Junior Sector. What did you love most about this?

I taught in the Junior Sector for 17 years, teaching both Grade 6, but mostly Grade 7's. Teaching 9 to 10 year olds was a truly lovely experience. Kids that age are mature enough to hold a good and sensible conversation whilst not too grown up to act rudely or disrespectfully. They look at the teacher with great admiration. I also used to organise the Gozo Trip and the Staffordshire Trip, which were both lovely experiences where I used to spend good quality time with the pupils.

How long have you been teaching at San Anton School?

This is my 25th scholastic year. In the last 7years I have been teaching home-economics and health and social care which is a vocational subject.

What is the most challenging part of the job?

The most challenging part is time management - doing my utmost to plan interesting and engaging lessons which the students will enjoy and also spending good quality time with my family. At times it seems there is not enough time in the day.

What changes can you see in the educational methodology at SAS to when you were at school?

Lessons at my school were literally chalk and talk, notes dictated and teaching was just done from books. Now with all the technology we have available, with the interactive boards, internet etc. lessons are made so much more interesting for the students. Learning is truly a fun experience.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

Three days prior to my 11th birthday, my youngest sister was born. I had been wishing for a baby sister for a long time so I felt it was like my biggest birthday present.

Which is your Favourite Book?

My favourite book is "Me before You" which has recently been produced into a film - a book which surely taught me a lot.

Any Hobbies?

My hobbies are cooking, cake decorating, reading and travelling with the latter surely being at the top of the list.

Favourite Food?

Anything which is fish based. I just love the taste of the sea.
