Humanities Gozo Outing

On Monday 21st March 2011, the Grade 8 students were taken for a whole day to Gozo, as part of their Environmental Studies, Geography and History syllabus. First they visited the Archaeological and Natural History Museums. After the museums the students were taken to Ramla l-Ħamra, where they had a lunch break, during which they tasted ‘Gozitan Ftira’. The students then carried out fieldwork on the beach at Ramla, where they learned about the different rock layers that are found in the area and how these provide the beautiful reddish sand that forms the beach at Ramla. The students also learned about how the sand dunes at the back of the beach form and how these should be preserved so as not to lose such an important and rare habitat in the Maltese Islands.
