Meet Ms Hannah Cuschieri - School Secretary

What do you love about your job? How long have you been working at San Anton School?

I love working in a school environment with children of all ages, as every day proves to be different.

This is my 23rd year at San Anton School, so you can say that I`m part of the furniture. In fact my colleagues always joke that I`m a walking directory of all our former students and parents.

Since part of my job entails registering all new students, I particularly enjoy meeting all the new parents and especially former students who come back to register their babies.

What is the most challenging part of your job?

The most challenging part of my job is trying to perform a balancing act between parents, students and teachers who all have their different and demanding daily needs. I also keep track of all deadlines a busy office like ours have, that cannot be missed.

How have you seen the school evolve over the years?

As a founding parent of the school, I have seen the school grow from a small pioneering school with two classes, into the leading educational institution that it is today. I was there from the very beginning; attending the initial meetings led by Dr Max Ganado which were held to gauge interest in the new school, painting rooms at Villa San Anton in Attard and getting classrooms ready in our current premises in Imselliet. It was certainly a team effort and we were one big family during very special and challenging times.

What is your fondest memory of your time at San Anton?

There are far too many too mention. However a personal special moment indeed is the day that both my children graduated at the end of their twelve years attending San Anton School - My daughter being in the first grade that had actually done the full twelve years.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

My favourite childhood memory is the Sunday afternoons spent with all my aunts, uncles and cousins on a picnic or for afternoon tea and also my summer holidays spent with my Grandparents in St Paul's Bay.

Any hobbies?

My hobbies as such are cooking and drawing, however spending time with my granddaughter Jessica, is the best time spent. I wish I could have more free time to spend with her. I also enjoy sewing and knitting too and in fact I have just finished knitting a blanket for my second grandchild who is on the way. On the weekends, I relax by going on long country walks off the beaten tracks with my husband John.

Which is your favourite book?

I don't find much time to read so I prefer reading short articles in magazines although when on holiday a good light read proves to be great company.

Favourite Food?

Sushi anytime and my own version of mama`s cake which is a family favourite..
