On Tuesday 8th November, the Junior Girls’ football team was involved in the first leg of a Football Tournament organised by the Women’s Section of the Malta Football Association. The tournament was hosted by San Anton School with a total of 10 participating teams coming from 8 different schools.
During a morning of football, our San Anton Junior Girls’ Football Team managed to win 5 matches out of a total of 6 played, which places us in a very good position in view of the second leg of the tournament which will be hosted by St Martin’s School in January 2012.
Our girls all come from Grades 6 and 7 and, in what is a first for Junior Sector school teams, have been training together as a team since the third week of school. They played with real passion and tenacity, as is witnessed by the very positive results obtained, and deserve all our praise for very ably representing the school. We were also pleased to note that a number of parents turned out to follow and support our team. This was greatly appreciated by students and teachers alike.
Lastly, many thanks must also go to the School Administration for their continuous support and to all parents for the continued support to the school.
